Homemade Dog Food Diets Saves Pets Life.
20 04 2009The pet food industry can’t hide the facts that commercially made pet foods are slowly posing pout dogs. The only smart thing to do is to change to a homemade dog food diet. The toxic waste and useless fillers that provide little nutrients for our dogs are the reason we should stay away from commercial products.
The labeling laws for the pet food industry are a joke, and they are able to hide ingredients like listed below.
Indigestible waste products
Colors & dyes
Pesticides
Chemicals
Harmful preservatives
Antibiotics
Dead, diseased, disabled or dying animals prior to their visit to the slaughter house.
Animal by-products including some recently euthanized pet cats or dogs.
After everything fit for human conception is sent to the grocery stores, the rest that is not fit for human consumption in made into dog food. This toxic waste is rendered at temperatures well over 300 degree, and any nutritional values that might have been in this crap is lost in the process.
Scared to death about the toxins found in dog food, I started to research on how to make homemade dog food.
I soon found out that any homemade dog food plan must ensure that your dog is getting a well balanced diet. This should consist of 40 percent meat, 30 percent vegetables and 30 percent starch.
I knew I couldn’t just start feeding my dogs a homemade dog food diet without some guidance from some experts. The many long hours I spent on research led me to find some experts on homemade dog food diets, and they gave me to confidence I needed to make the switch.
A major concern that I had was, if I didn’t provide a complete diet to my dog, I knew it could cause serious long term health risks.
The experts say that any homemade dog food should have both a good source of protein and carbohydrates.
Here are some examples of good sources of protein and carbohydrates for homemade dog food diets.:
roasted skinless chicken breast
pan browned ground beef
broiled pork loin
broiled lamb chop
baked Atlantic salmon
hard boiled whole egg
cottage cheese
tofu
long-grained white rice
long-grained brown rice
baked white potatoes
baked sweet potatoes
enriched, cooked spaghetti
cooked oats
cooked barley
Do you see a pattern here? These foods could all be found on the menu of any good restaurant. Did you notice the list does not include animal by products and filler ingredients?
Now again I need to warn you that taking these ingredients and coming up with a homemade dog food diet plan that is well balanced did take some research. We needed to make certain that our recipes provide the nutrition our dogs need for a lifetime of good health.
Some people might think this is too much work, and to them I would ask one question. Is there anything in your life that gives you the degree of unconditional love that your dog does?
